One of the many impersonators in the plant world, this plant is not a palm at all but a succulent. It's native to the deserts of Southern Mexico and is a member of the Agave plant family - made famous as the main ingredient in tequila!

The Ponytail Palm is not a big drinker though and won't mind if you forget about it for weeks at a time. It stores water in its bulb-like trunk, making it an excellent choice for forgetful waterers or frequent travellers. Salud to that!
