The strikingly-shaped plant is as fun to look at as it is to grow. The fishbone cactus is tropical and stores water similar to its desert cousins but needs much less intense sunlight than they do. Keeping it happy is similar to caring for hoya or other succulents.

The real showstopper? Give it lots of light, have some patience, and you'll be rewarded with large, fragrant blooms in creamy white or soft yellow. Perfect for plant lovers who want some personality without the fuss.

Care

Difficulty Beginner. Adaptable, easy to care for and grow.

Light Moderate to bright light. Place this plant in a bright room or in a location where it can have at least a partial view of the sky. Much more tolerant of moderate lighting conditions than other cacti. Can tolerate a few hours of direct sun and can be acclimatized to full sun locations.

Water Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry all the way through the pot, approximately every 2-3 weeks.

  • Delivery is FREE for all orders over $99
  • Most orders arrive within 3 business days from the date it was placed, up to a maximum of 5 business days.*

*If you need your order sooner (or later), send an email with your request to hello@frondlyplants.com and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What to expect on delivery

  • All plants are delivered by our local delivery team to ensure that they arrive in perfect condition.
  • You do not need to be at home for us to make your delivery as long as we have access to your building via a buzzer code, concierge, or the front door of your house.*
  • You will receive notifications via email and sms once your delivery has been scheduled, when it is on its way, and once it has been successfully delivered.
  • If there are any issues making your delivery, our driver will be in touch with you directly to coordinate.
  • If we are unable to complete your delivery, we will contact you to coordinate another attempt. There is no cost for redelivery.

*If you require any special accommodations for delivery, please leave a note in the delivery instructions at checkout, or send an email to hello@frondlyplants.com once your order is placed and we will do everything we can to meet your request.

Returns

  • Plants may be returned within 7 days from the date of delivery, and pots and accessories within 30 days.
  • Plants that have been repotted into a decorative pot are not eligible for return.
  • Return pickup is FREE
  • To initiate a return, please email hello@frondlyplants.com
  • We will work with your schedule to arrange the return and our local team will collect the return within 3-5 business days.
  • A full refund will be provided once the items are collected.

Great little plant shop!

I found this shop as I was walking my dog in the area and stumbled in to have a look because I can’t resist a plant shop or nursery. It is relatively small but full of wonderful, not so ordinary, houseplants. The Japanese ceramic pots are gorgeous but a little out of my budget that day. I spoke with a young man who answered my questions about some of my more challenging houseplants. I ended up purchasing a nice pair of gardening sheers and a funky yellow stem/vine support.
